On September 13, 2013, HHS published a notice requesting comments on existing regulations HHS should consider reviewing in order to reduce unnecessary or burdensome regulations, or to increase their effectiveness and flexibility. For instance, HHS welcomes suggestions for rules it should review to: promote economic growth, innovation, competitiveness, and job creation; address rules where costs are greater than originally anticipated; and address standards that are overtaken by new technology or information. The solicitation is issued in conformance with the January 2011 Executive Order 13563 on “Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review.” HHS notes that this request does not obligate the Department to take any further action. Comments will be accepted until October 15, 2013.
