Congressional panels have held a number of hearings recently on health policy issues, including the following:
- A Senate Finance Health Care Subcommittee hearing on “Prescription Drug Abuse: How are Medicare and Medicaid Adapting to the Challenge?”;
- A Senate Judiciary Crime Subcommittee hearing on “Protecting Medicare and Medicaid: Efforts to Prevent, Investigate, and Prosecute Health Care Fraud”;
- A House Small Business Committee hearing on implementation of the ACA and its impact on small businesses;
- A House Ways and Means Committee hearing on the ACA’s individual and employer mandates;
- House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearings on the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight and the Anniversary of the ACA and “Examining the Current State of Cosmetics”;
- House Judiciary subcommittee hearing on H.R. 4223, the Safe Doses Act (to prohibit theft of medical products); H.R. 3668, the Counterfeit Drug Penalty Enhancement Act of 2011; and H.R. 4216, the Foreign Counterfeit Prevention Act, and a separate hearing on H.R. 1946, the Preserving Our Hometown Independent Pharmacies Act of 2011;
- A Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing on “FDA User Fee Agreements: Strengthening FDA and the Medical Products Industry for the Benefit of Patients”; and
- A House Education and the Workforce Committee hearing on “Ensuring Regulations Protect Access to Affordable and Quality Companion Care.”
