The OIG has released its 2012 Work Plan, which outlines the audit, inspection, and investigative initiatives the OIG intends to conduct this year. The OIG plans activities in a wide range of areas, including reviews of Medicare reimbursement and program integrity policies involving various types of providers and suppliers, along with oversight of Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part B prescription drug plan policies. Numerous Medicare reviews also are planned, including investigations of Medicaid prescription drug pricing and rebate policies and other payment and program integrity issues, along with reviews involving FDA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and other public health programs. The Work Plan also sets forth legal and investigative activities related to Medicare and Medicaid.
