On March 20, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) published two notices soliciting information related to the pedigree provisions of the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 (FDAAA). In the first notice, the FDA requests comments regarding standards for identifying, validating, tracking and tracing, and authenticating prescription drugs to determine how aggressively it may move forward to adopt related standards. Second, the FDA is requesting information from vendors and others regarding such technologies, given that the agency believes that “significant progress” has been made in this area. The comment deadline for both notices is May 19.
