CMS has announced the final audit methodology for the MA Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) program, which is designed to reduce the MA payment error rate. Under the RADV program, CMS will verify that diagnosis codes submitted for payment by an MA organization are supported by the enrollee’s medical record documentation. CMS estimates that the program will recover a $370 million in overpayments for the first audit year.
