The House of Representatives voted February 1, 2012 to repeal the ACA’s Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) program, which was designed to be a voluntary, self-financed program providing insurance for long-term care services and supports. As previously reported, the Obama Administration announced in October 2011 that it was not going to implement the program because it could not design an actuarially sound benefit structure. The House approved the repeal legislation, H.R. 1173, by a vote of 267 – 159, but the legislation is unlikely to advance in the Senate.
